650+ HOMES COMPLETED

PUERTO RICO

NEW YORK

During a nine-month period in 2018, our team repaired 587 homes in Puerto Rico which were damaged by Hurricane Maria when it struck the island in September of 2017.  Our work was performed in connection with the government of Puerto Rico’s emergency housing program, Tu Hogar Renace (Your Home Reborn), a Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (“STEP”) Program.  Through strategically crafted coordination efforts, our team of 90+ employees worked diligently and swiftly to meet the goal of restoring Puerto Rico homes to safe, functional and habitable living spaces so homeowners could shelter in place while permanent repairs were ongoing. We provided construction services consisting of roof repairs to eliminate leaking, replacement or repair of damaged windows, doors, and walls, electric work, and the provision of appliances.
Urban Ecospaces has also been actively involved in remedying the massive devastation Hurricane Sandy caused to New York City’s housing stock.  We are a prequalified general contractor with the NYC Department of Design’s Build It Back Program, New York’s permanent housing recovery initiative designed to remedy the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.   Urban Ecospaces has rehabilitated 74 single family homes, demolished 4 residences to make way for new modular homes, and completed a variety of on-site construction services for 16 new modular home structures.  Construction was completed on homes at scattered sites in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.
